Waterfront Venue Brisbane

Brisbane River – “Maiwar” (Turrbal, Aboriginal Australian language)

At Blackbird, we extend a warm welcome to all First Nations people, and we pay our respect to elders past, present & emerging and respect their ongoing connection to land and community.

The Brisbane river has a story to tell, originally providing sustenance and a home to Aboriginal communities, the river’s history runs deep and has been the location of some notable moments in the city’s history. Nowadays the river is a hotbed of activity, and sees a lot of business. Blackbird is situated on the bank of the river, and overlooks the Story Bridge, Kangaroo Point cliffs and beyond. With floor-to-ceiling windows, our venue allows you to take full advantage of breathtaking 180 degree views, while dining in a setting of modern luxury.

As the sun sets, Blackbird truly shines. The venue comes to life at night as the lights of the Story Bridge twinkle in the distance, this is what makes evening dining and night-time events at Blackbird a truly spectacular experience.

One of Brisbane CBD’s best waterfront venues, Blackbird’s location is a perfect stop-off for a riverside walk, the bar is open 7 days a week and welcomes walk-ins. The CBD location also makes our venue perfect for after-work drinks, the bar overlooks the river and is home to an incredibly wide selection of beverage options, from seasonal cocktail creations to local tap beer and just about everything in between.

Many couples have fallen in love with the Brisbane river as the backdrop, this is what makes our venue the perfect location for a wedding reception. Our events centre opens up to accommodate up to 450 guests and many happy receptions have taken place overlooking the river with the help of our dedicated wedding and events team. Take a look at our weddings page to find out more about booking a wedding on the waterfront.
